Our Pups

The pups at Potcake Puppy Palace are young and vulnerable, often found in dire situations at an extremely young age. They wouldn’t survive in a typical shelter environment such as a humane society, so our amazing Claire Cash (Mama Claire), founder and puppy caregiver,  and our dedicated volunteers in the Bahamas will often bottle feed and nurse our puppies back to health until they are healthy and old enough to be adopted. We make sure that each litter has frequent visits to the Bahamas Humane Society to visit the vet for routine checks and vaccines.

Our pups are raised with the litter in which they are found and have their own isolated area at the shelter to ensure a safe and healthy environment. They receive hands-on medical care at the shelter as well as lots of cuddles and love from many local volunteers. This is unique to other shelter or stray situations because these pups are given the opportunity to be raised with socialization and love which innately gives them a sweet and loving nature towards humans.

As soon as a litter is healthy and old enough, and we have the availability to transport them, we bring them to Canada and match them with fosters while they wait to find their forever home.

Meet some of our pups who are currently living with their foster families & are ready to be adopted.

Elton (M) / 3.5 months

  • Neutered: N // Dogs: Y // Kids: Y

  • This handsome boy is truly a dream puppy — his foster family can’t stop talking about how easy, loving, and special he is. Elton loves to be close (and yes, he’s happy to be carried ), but he’s also wonderfully independent and content doing his own thing.

Here’s a little snapshot of this amazing pup:

    • Personality: Gentle, loving, inquisitive, and quietly confident

    • Energy: Playful but balanced — enjoys interactive play and solo toy time

    • Training: Already learning “sit”, “place”, “stay”, and “come” like a pro

    • Crate: Sleeping through the night in his crate/pen and settles easily after potty breaks

    • Leash: Walking beautifully with his training collar

    • Car: Calm and comfortable in his car seat

    • Grooming: Totally unbothered by baths, hairdryer, vacuum, and even face/ear/paw cleaning

    • Training style: Thrives with positive reinforcement and responds so well to redirection

The kind of home Elton is dreaming of? One filled with patience, calm energy, and lots of love. In return, he’ll give you the most loyal, gentle, and devoted companionship.

Cutie (F) / 3.5 months / Spayed

  • Spayed: Y // Dogs: Y // Kids: Y

  • Yes…her name fits her perfectly. Cutie is a sweet, loving girl who absolutely adores snuggles. She's happiest curled up beside her humans and especially loves cozy nighttime cuddles.

She can be a little shy at first, but her curiosity always wins out. Once she warms up, her affectionate and gentle personality really shines through. She's playful, but overall a pretty easygoing pup with a nice, calmer energy.

Cutie also enjoys spending time with other dogs and would happily have a canine buddy to play with.

    Training progress:

    • Potty training improving every day

    • Crate training in progress, sleeps mostly through the night

    • Walking on leash and getting better with practice

    • Seems to have great recall

Cutie is the kind of pup who will quietly steal your heart. With a little patience and love as she continues building confidence, she’ll make a wonderful, loyal companion

Stitch (M) / 8 months / Neutered

  • Neutered: Y // Dogs: Y // Kids: Y

  • At 8 months old, Stitch is the definition of a joyful, confident, go-with-the-flow pup. He takes everything in stride (rare for a potcake his age!) and brings such a fun, loving energy wherever he goes.

Here’s why everyone falls in love with Stitch:

    • Personality: Happy, confident, affectionate, and always smiling

    • Energy: High energy — always on the move and ready for the next adventure (his crate helps him reset!)

    • Affection: Total love bug who will happily stare into your soul and melt your heart

    • Training: House trained & crate trained. He may whine briefly but quickly relaxes.

    • Motivation: Praise-driven and eager to please

    • Dogs: Friendly with dogs but equally happy as your one-and-only

    • Kids: Has done well with children so far and can easily match their energy levels

    • Quirks: Loves carrying toys (and your clothes ) from room to room like little treasures

His perfect home? One that’s ready to embrace his energy, continue guiding him, and give him lots of love (and maybe a toy or two to carry around).

Lilo (F) / 8 months / Spayed

  • Spayed: Y // Dogs: Y // Kids: Y

  • At 8 months old, Lilo is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart. With her sweet, calm nature and love for being close to her people, she’s the perfect mix of cuddly companion and playful pup.

Here’s a little glimpse into life with Lilo:

    • Personality: Gentle, affectionate, calm, and quietly curious

    • Affection: Loves being close — especially for ear scratches and chin rubs

    • Energy: Playful with her toys but overall very easygoing and balanced

    • Training: Crate trained and settles beautifully for sleep and downtime

    • Routine: Happy relaxing in her crate or on her dog bed

    • Potty training: Going really well and starting to signal when she needs to go out

Lilo is wonderfully social and fits in with just about everyone:

    • Great with other dogs — loves playing with her foster sibling

    • Very gentle and sweet with kids, even toddlers

    • Has adjusted well — curious at first and now calm and respectful

She’s incredibly adaptable and has that loyal, companion-style personality that makes her such an easy addition to a home. Whether it’s playtime, family time, or curling up beside you at the end of the day, Lilo is just happy to be part of it.

Interested in adopting one of these pups?

If you can’t adopt, foster.

Without our trusted fosters, we have nowhere for our pups to go until they can be matched with their adopter, often forcing us to leave them behind even if they have the opportunity to leave The Bahamas.
